He's saying she should get a raise on the merits of her individual performance. The word 'livable' is loaded my friend. If you're Frum your assuming a mandatory wage will drive some into unemployment, which pays zero. He's not thinking in terms of 'deserve' but of practicality.
Agree with you, to a point. My problem is con theory often collapses with realities. Don't raise min wage, cept for that awesome donut employee that served me. Welfare/handouts are bad, but let's write the biggest welfare check of all time for Wall St in 08.
It is. Nicole being great with customers makes her a more valuable employee. Someone who is a dick to customers would still make min wage. Nicole deserves more, because she's better.
