Savage BA 110 in 300 Winmag. Powerful round without the cost of a .50 BMG. You can find videos on YT showing cold-bore hits on a beer can at over a mile out. You know, for tiny cows.

Know your local laws first. Go to a range, practice on different ones.

Ask a friend to take you to a range, try as many as possible. It’s like billiards; there’re a couple official “right ways” and then the way that works best for you. You’ll probably end up buying three in the first five years and love every minute of it.

@blackswampfire makes ARs and I know the owner (me). Always make them at cost for friends. Ruger 10/22 (22lr) is a nice rifle to learn on, but I’d buy@SmithWessonCorp new version of it (shot it in MT last week):pic.twitter.com/bzE9wn5tgM

Nice. I learned on a Ruger 10/22 as well. Great little gun, and easy to operate for beginning shooters.
-
Shoot
@SmithWessonCorp new one. 10/22 accessories/mag work on it. Blast to shoot. So much better than stock 10/22 -
The gun stores out here don’t carry much new stuff, but I’ll keep that in mind if I make it over to Northwest Armory or another decent store. Thanks.

Gunbroker (cough)

Yeah, I know I could, but I just spent a sweet penny on a Benelli SBE3, and my next two purchases are already planned out (Tavor 7 w/ 20” barrel and an FNH45). It’ll be a while before I look at a 10/22 again.

Consider the
@Springfield_Inc XDM in 10mm. I’ve shot a lot of FN, but got to say the power of a 357 (10mm) in semiautomatic is pretty stellar over a 45. Tavors are nice. Just finished reviewing the X95. -
I’ve shot the XDM. Nice gun, but I didn’t like the lack of a hammer. I’m a bit old school like that with pistols. Plus I’m a lefty, and if I recall correctly it wasn’t fully ambidextrous.
