You know, every so often I have to listen to a lot of bellyaching about coastal elitism, and the notion that 50 million of us in the BOS-WAS corridor are disconnected from real America. Often, I'm told not to criticize small-town Murica by people who've never lived there. /1

Did some research and I see you don’t accept Tricare in your MD practice. Why do you hate the troops and America?

Have you ever lived there? Or were you nominated to speak for all rurals at some point and I missed the vote?

Tom Nichols isn't an expert in rural demographics, he should take his own advice and listen to the actual experts.

I didn't say anything about people living in a small town, nor do I proclaim to be an expert in anything.
-
And that doesn't change the fact that Nichols is not an expert in the topic he's talking about

Yes he does say that. He's acting like he knows best when he doesn't because he is not an expert in the subject he is talking about.

I got ratioed on this feed for pointing out many of us in higher education didn't attend, TA, nor teach at the east coast elites and defending the graduate student experience at middle American regional state universities. This is Tom's blind spot.

Tom Nichols says that only experts can talk about the topics that are debated on. He is not an expert in small town demographics and thus needs to take his own advice.
