Or maybe those food delivery service companies could pay her a real wage rather than asking us to pick up the slack

I’m glad she stopped driving for that food delivery company. If enough people do the same it will force proper corporate behavior
-
Eh, I disagree. A lot less people would use the service if they saw upfront how much it was. That's why tipping works. People are stupid and don't think about the total with tip until they're ready to pay.
-
Same thing goes for waiters. It's also a lot different with delivery drives because there are so many alternatives to that job, like driving for lyft/uber
-
It’s not my job to pay someone else’s employee. Either they can quit if they don’t like it or the employer will change policy (or charge more for the service). I pay a fee I’m comfortable with when ordering, and that’s it.

Food delivery? Are people seriously that freaking lazy they cannot go shopping anymore? My god, as a Nation have we become so entitled and downright lazy that not only do we not grow our own, we cant even shop for it in a store? Then on top, NOT tip those who do it for you?

-
As a disabled person (wheelchair user) who doesn't drive, I've found the service Door Dash really helpful. Though I do always try to tip what I can. I totally see your point though. :)
-
Now THAT is totally fine and perfectly acceptable. And a great thing for you and others. I am talking about others who are perfectly capable of going to the store, but just dont want to be bothered by it. And bless you for tipping them! YOU are a good person for that.

Thank you, kindly! I actually wish there was a way to adjust or add to tips aterwars, just as a show of gratitude. There's been a handful of people that really go above and beyond.
-
Good for you! Maybe you can ask them how to adjust their app to do so? I'm sure there must be a way no?
-
You know, that's a brilliant idea that had not occured to me. Honestly. Thank you for the suggestion!
-
LOL You're welcome. I work in tech, so it's kinda in my genes to go that route and suggest it.

Cheers!!

When I use Grubhub, it shows the tip is automatically added in at a default 20%... they get that, don’t they? I know they don’t get the delivery fee, but they’re suppose to get the actual tip.. I don’t give them a cash tip when they deliver b/c I already have the 20% added on.

Then why do the apps ask how much I want to tip? Who does that money go to?

I always tip. You get the food faster because the delivery people know they'll make more money.
-
It’s really that simple. I pay a premium when I receive something premium and in return I get a lot more premiums. Delivery know I pay that premium, waiters/bartenders I frequent too. Fast delivery, extra product, immediate refills, buy backs, etc.
-
Exactly.
