I don’t think Republicans get to nominate Trump, then complain about moral failings of Democratic candidates. That ship has pretty much sailed.

So because of Trump now all politicians can be POS? That doesn’t seem like a good long term strategy for either side. How about we return to standards as opposed to throwing them out? We can all do better.
-
I don’t like it either, but if you’re asking why something isn’t getting more attention, it’s because Trump and his antics have numbed people to what decent behaviour looks like.
-
When the President is constantly acting in ways that completely violate social norms *today*, it’s hard to attract much attention for a state politician who violated social norms once 20 years ago.
-
I’m not so sure I agree.
#MeToo
happened in spite of Trump. I don’t think he should rewrite any moral compass. We must hold everyone to the same standard. Ellison’s accusers deserve attention like Kavanaugh’s accuser. Trump sucks but I don’t have to. -
Again, I’m not saying it’s good. I’m saying it’s the way it is. Politicians credibly accused of sexual assault are hanging on way longer than they ever would have in the past. The Roy Moore saga never would have happened in the past. He would have been turfed pronto.
-
Same goes for the Ellison stuff. An affair used to be a potentially career-ending scandal. Now, the President’s many affairs are regularly covered in the news and no one bats an eye. So a 20 year old DUI clearly doesn’t rank nearly as high in a 24hr news cycle.
-
Calling what Ellison did an - ‘affair’ is like calling bank robbery an ‘untimely withdrawal’. He assaulted her. And in his case, unlike in Kavenaugh’s case, there are police reports and evidence. Your perspective is conveniently (and politically) blurred.

But yet Dems will say “oh, it was 20 years ago and he didn’t know better.” However, we are ruining a mans life abt what a woman believes happened 36 years ago... with no evidence. This is a police report.
-
No one is ruining Brett's life but Brett. If he truly believes he's innocent, why won't he agree to have the FBI interview potential witnesses? Hmmm
-
Witnesses have been interviewed under penalty of a felony. All say the same thing... it didn’t happen.

Who, when, and by whom?

Ford's witnesses have made statements UNDER OATH to Senate investigators. None have any recollection of the events Ford has described while not under oath. It is a crime to make false statements under oath
