Do you share the same derision for parents who instill conservative values in their children?

So religion shouldn't be taught to children...

because 11-year-olds are naturally more interested in trickle-down economics.

That was about the age I was trying to puzzle out the tensions between the Christian doctrines of sovereign election and free will, and I’m no prodigy. It’s kind of arrogant to dismiss a kid on the grounds that “no true kid” would care about weighty topics.

Good for you. Its also morally reprehensible to use children to prove a political point. Even if she has an interest in the matter, she's a fucking child. I'd barely trust her with scissors. She has no life experience to back up her beliefs or views. Its pure expoitation

But it's definitely NOT brainwashing to have a classroom of kids stand and salute a military symbol while chanting allegiance to it every single morning
-
It's a symbol of a country that has done more for impovrished and oppressed people than any other nation
-
Regardless of what you think it represents, teaching kids to salute an image and pledge allegiance to it before they even know the meaning of independence is the definition of brainwashing

Hell no it’s not! It’s called RESPECT! Look into it. It’s called country and self pride and teaching our kids to be Americans, not white Americans, black Americans, Mexican Americans, etc . Just AMERICANS!

This smacks of the rhetoric used against folks like my Christian parents. I grew up with strong beliefs about all kinds of stuff because they freighted ‘em into me. Imparting your value system to your kids isn’t “brainwashing;” it’s just responsible and involved parenting.

So it’s outside the possibility that this free thinking, empathetic 11 year old made a decision like this on her own?

This is funny - parents have always and will always indoctrinate their kids into what they believe to be right, some even profess to give their kids the opportunity to "think for themselves" but we all know how that goes. Conservatives are obsessed with Hillary

-
Mostly because she forces herself down everyone's throats (and forced her own party to bend over and stop crying).
