Dogs don't think like humans, just FYI. They think in the moment. Not long term. So this is all excessive and poor Jack has no idea why you're locking him in the cage. You have to correct unwanted behavior in the moment for dogs to understand.

Eh he’s right. This is terrible dog parenting. This teaches him nothing other than the cage is a bad place that happens when his owner is mad. Which means he won’t want to go in there. Basically the exact opposite of crate training.
