It's a win-win: those kids who were complaining about their job can now go home, and WE get faster (and friendlier) service. See? Everybody's happy...https://www.forbes.com/sites/edrensi/2018/07/11/mcdonalds-says-goodbye-cashiers-hello-kiosks/#64da817f6f14 …

This is happening regardless of what the minimum wage is. Self service is already in grocery stores, fast food, restaurants (Applebee's, Olive Garden) and movie theaters.

On the other hand, the repair techs needed for these kiosk's will get paid at least $15 an hour.
-
You don’t need one repair person per kiosk let alone on per store. More than likely it’s an independent contractor or business separate from the store.

I get it. Sarcasm doesn't translate through Twitter very well. But this type of result is inevitable when busy bodies attack an industry. Not sure where my kids will get their 1st jobs now.
-
Yes sarcasm is hard to decipher sometimes. One of mine found a hostess job at a Wong place and the other worked at a local jeweler photographing and posting on their eBay. First one is always hard to find.

All the companies replacing humans with intelligent kiosks can now contribute and donate to summer jobs programs. That is all.

Here is my thought when I was a kid working at fast food chains was almost like a right of passage to adulthood. You could start at 14 get some experience. All of a sudden this became an adult driven job. This was a start up job not a career unless you r management

These are actually really convenient, you can take your time to make sure the order's right and you can use a coupon without feeling cheap.

I was in
@HomeDepot yesterday. Only self-serve check outs open except for the contractors check out. Took forever to check out because of problems and only one person to help. That’s what demanding $15 an hour gets you.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
