Why can't people understand there a thing called legal immigration? And that it is not the same as No more immigration. Just follow the correct procedures to become a legal citizen and images like these won't happen.

Leftist leaders understand it just fine. Using children in the immigration battle is a hook the left uses to incite anger and other strong emotions. Many people then forget that this is an issue of national sovereignty. Without secure borders we are not a sovereign nation.
-
Exactly
-
It's hard to believe sometimes that people conveniently 'forget' we are a sovereign nation but that w/o borders we aren't even a country!

Illegal Immigration makes me crazy for one very serious and important reason: I STOOD IN LINE, PAID MY FEES AND TOOK THE OATH OF CITIZENSHIP TO BECOME AN AMERICAN - NOT TO BE HYPHENATED. BETSY YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD.
-
I totally understand what you're saying. Hell's bells, it makes me crazy and I was born here! It's the fact that those weenie bastards like McCain McConnell Bush Pelosi Obama decided w/o asking US that they would open our borders and give away OUR country for cheap labor&votes!
-
Sigh :(
-
The thought that so many millions of you who are hard-working, follow the rules, and went step by step to become citizens of this great country, yet for years, any fool or criminal who stepped across the border could have even more rights than you and I have, is maddening.

Ok, so the fact that it happened under Obama as well nullifies the need to do anything to stop it? How about we actually try to end it instead of just endlessly engage in whataboutism?

People are generally more informed and connected in 2018 than in preceding years, and the same will probably be true for every year going forward. People’s perspectives often change as they go though life or age.

Tribalism is certainly a problem, but you are engaging in it yourself when you don’t give the benefit of the doubt and revert to whataboutism. Many people live in echo chambers and surround themselves with media and people who share their opinions, and really may not know.

I’m responding to your point about “whataboutism being a valid point”. I’m not underselling (or even commenting) on its prevalence. I don’t even know from your statement which “side” you are on.

Does it really matter who this happened under!?!?! This is horrific and y'all are all Americans. Use that voice for some good purpose like fixing this!

What should happen? Should they be put in foster care? That is over populated. Where are the parents that sent them this way to begin with? That is abandonment, neglect and endangering their own children. The blame should be on the families and their government of origin.

The kids are in these camps while their parents are detained in jail pending investigation into their reasons for requesting amnesty. It's a tedious process that was designed by the Clinton's in 1996.

Actually came out of Flores 1997 case.

The separation of families at the border arose out of the 1997 Flores decision and settlement in the 9th Circuit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reno_v._Flores#1997_settlement_agreement …
