We are fine. It was wild, but, I fear, much more common for people that don’t look like me

It's a daily struggle for people of color to prove their worth in this society, let alone their identity..

That is what i just posted. If someone had kidnapped her son and was trying to board him onto a plane, you would hope they would question the adult! Stop making everything about race people. Come on. It happens to families of same colour. Or split families. Protect kids 1st!

The
@SouthwestAir website literally has a checklist on their website that states, as the first check, “A Copy of a Birth Certificate for infants and toddlers flying as lap children.” https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/family/baby-on-board-pol.html … -
Stop trying to make it a racial issue when it isn’t. Human trafficking and the kidnapping of children are very real things in this world. Having people ask questions and verify that someone is a parent of legal guardian saves lives.
-
Thank you. It’s absolutely ridiculous how the media is making this a story.
-
They swarm airline-related stories without looking into the details. It’s tough because some people truly are treated unfairly in this world. But in the airline industry especially, it’s very common for customers to feel targeted by protocols that are based in safety.

I have flown with my children dozens of times since they were babies and have never been questioned or asked to prove relationship. My children & I don't have the same last name, but we do have the same skin color. Calling BS on Southwest for doing this to you.
-
I’m actually shocked that you haven’t been asked to prove relationship. Child trafficking is a real problem so I would think showing documentation would be standard. I would rather children be safe than worry about their parents being offended.
-
She did show proof, they disregarded it and wanted a Facebook post to prove relationship.(WTF?) You may want to look at some of the articles on this that have more info than just her post.
-
The articles I have read only mention the passport. They all say the employee asked for the birth certificate but not that they had it. Of course there might be more info but I didn't find it.
-
I don't think most people consider Facebook to be a legitimate source of parentage and yet Southwest apparently does.
-
Showing a photo of you with baby sure does prove that you have them on a daily basis vs not. Crazy, I agree, but it’s
#humantrafficking they are TRYING to prevent -
Wow, today I learned that only parents take photos with a baby and no one who stole a child would ever try and fake something like that on Facebook.
