A few more cars than little Bermagui is used to. Visibility has improved significantly in the last hour, but there’s still a very smoky haze about.

An update to those at the Surf Club. The advice is to remain in Bermagui. For those needing to go to Narooma, they have until 2pm to do so. The road has been reopened until then. Bermagui residents can also return to their homes, with advice to remain fire alert.

The latest update, at about 2pm. Conditions are expected to change + may worsen this afternoon. The advice is now to head to Narooma, if you have no reason to stay in Bermagui. There are more resources there. Bermagui‘s power + sewerage system has now been affected.

5.15pm. Apart from the odd car, it’s incredibly quiet. It feels like midnight.

This was at 7.20pm last night. Light rain had started to fall. Bermagui has no power, no phone reception. Evacuees are mainly at the Country Club, where there is power, food + TVs for info.

We’ve left the area this morning, in an effort to get back to Melbourne. This may prove tricky due to road closures. We’re going to try though. Bermagui could be without power for days.

We sat at the Country Club last night for a couple of hours. We spoke with locals. Some were unsure if their houses were still standing. Some were unsure of the whereabouts of family + friends. They all said they had never seen anything like this though.
