But also, although $$$ is (unfortunately) important, both of you have been super amazing at supporting me in other ways! I know it’s cheesy but the simple words of affirmation both of you provide is enough to keep me going!

Also, I think one of the most magical things I’ve seen happen is
@magicleap choosing to ship Tonandi as a launch app is the *perfect* balance of pop and experimental! Unfortunately don’t think we’ll see an app that awesome for quest launch1 reply 1 retweet 12 likes -
@chetfaliszek if you haven’t seen that one, it’s literally sublime@miketucker &@smangiat made something real special1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes -
But I also think after a certain point some of us needed to be courted by platforms. I have enough privledge to be able to have sustained gigs etc. but it means the real experimentation is relegated to free time ( which w/ gigs & freelancing is very very little )

It’s just so hard to try and figure out how “experimentation” can make business sense. I remember one time reading that the role of advertising is to take the transgressive and make it palpable, because that’s make newness consumable, but that doesn’t answer how the new gets made

There are “good” ways too do experimentation tho, and I think artist in residency’s are one of them. To date, one of the only times I’ve felt truly comfortable in terms of being able to experiment was during my residency w/

And so much of that was just a simple act of trust. ( and monthly monetary support that allowed to to actually breath )
@thedak was one of the few people who immediately groked what I was doing ( most of which was just similar hero’s like@cgingold &&@vectorpark )1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
Sooo many residencies I’ve done almost treat it like a charity, where as
@thedak &@RobRuffler many times expressed their thanks of giving my time & labor to them. ( and this gratitude feels like it shines through the rest of their projects as well )1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
If it were up to me though, I would make a cross platform XR Lab run by producers who fully understand what real-time means ( aka
@thedak ) with the soul purpose of creating libraries, experiences, videos and thought leadership that keep people within the medium looking forward!1 reply 0 retweets 8 likes -
It *really* scares me that we have these RADICAL new technology that could completely change the way that we interact with computation, make it one of agency and control instead of consumption, but most likely it’s just gonna be more FPS, RTS, and other crystallized TLA genres

Like HOW? even in 3D! Are we still just making apathetic clones of apples already apathetic clones of Xerox Parcs half century old research? We have got to do better, but I worry without actual deep & long term support for Radical Experimentation will we get anything compelling

I'm really really looking forward to when all this stuff is totally ubiquitous and cheap and there are less gatekeepers, ideally new amazing things will emerge none of us could have imagined
