(I think, at least, not sure about that last part) I think we use auto layouts because we normally already have all the data, and no one can be bothered moving around 1000 nodes manually But with this, you're only adding 1 node at a time, there's only ever 1 to move

Problem with manual layout: you can layout ONE graph yourself, but if you layout a second one yourself, then choose to show both at the same time, what happens? If they're not connected, it's "ok", just shift one over to the side ("ok" = not what you want, but it displays)

compare https://twitter.com/CaYD4D/status/1202351004542492673 … vs the screenshot I can't be bothered adding any more posts there unless they're important, but it would look better if I didpic.twitter.com/cRxzPB18Qw

Dogfooding like this was really good, adding all of those posts was getting really annoying, having to make a post, then go to links, then scroll to the bottom, press add, click something, scroll right, click, click, scroll back up, scroll left cos it's still scrolled to the left

Everything _works_, but it's all a pain Showing the unlinked posts at the top was good, though D3's force directed layout broke down a bit, lots of edges crossed other edges

another problem, I need Vue experts for this one: I'm trying to load ~60 components at once, and it takes at least 2 or 3 seconds, how can I speed it up? Each component takes ~200ms according to the dev tools, so the whole thing takes ages The code: https://github.com/nd9600/spiderweb/blob/master/resources/assets/js/commonComponents/Links/LinkEditor.vue …pic.twitter.com/0Sbz0qN6yc

It's not even doing anything complicated, and I can't make it show a spinner because it's Vue that takes a long time Horrible hack: show the component empty first, then 100ms later show the content..pic.twitter.com/z6bI3SoiFV
