I think I've talked about this somewhere before, but Twitter is not good for this.. The biggest difference there is the kids do stuff for a reason, with a sense of purpose They don't just learn about ancient Athens for a test, regurgitate it, and forget everything

They learn about it, write, star in and direct play with everything they learn, and show it to their parents and friends They learn about why civilizations rise and fall, and learn about gear ratios and torque so they can explain it to people

They don't write an essay that [if they're lucky their teacher will print out] only their teacher will read, once, and throw it in the bin What's the point in that? Where's the accomplishment? The joy you get from doing something meaningful? There's nothing

[for some reason the school is called High Tech High, but it's not centered around iPads AFAIK] imagine if you learned at work by someone lecturing you for hours at a time, with 5 minute breaks each hour That's school
