    Today HB2312, legalizing adult-use marijuana, will be heard in Gen Laws sub cmte. This bill was crafted out of a JLARC study and Administration workgroup to ensure public safety and health, while taking great strides forward on equity.

    Thank you Mike & everyone on Courts criminal sub whether you supported these measures or not. The hard work you put in & the debate is important to reform measures to improve our system. I am proud to Chair the Courts committee & work with each of you!

    Here’s a recap of the criminal justice reform we passed late last night: - robbery will now have degrees of seriousness - eliminated the 3 strikes law for larceny - established youth court programs for juveniles - new limits on probation violations for technical violations

    Yesterday, my bill HB 1915 passed through the Education Committee with broad bi-partisan support. If this bill passes, teachers in Virginia will see a 4.5% raise every year for 5 years.
