I think we do have a reasonable range of estimates for R0. But no good idea how it varies across time and space (seasons, socio-economic context). Ultimately, how much R0 responds to control measures is more important and I don't think we understand that yet.
Agree. The current values give us a good idea as to how many infected people need to be detected and isolated in order to prevent sustained transmission chains. But we don’t know very well how the control measures in China currently affect R.

Yes, with so many mild cases and possibility of transmission chains from mild cases (and maybe even recovered, see German cluster), unclear how well current containment (and various scenarios) works.
