I think we definitely see a lot of weak and wrong stuff published due to the
#nCoV2019 hype. Hard to sort out even for people from the field. But how to share rapidly and still have a quality-check??
I think we see an incredible effort by top researchers to be open and critical about the ongoing research. IMHO, preprints only help in such a situation. If the 'snake' paper had appeared as a preprint, it would never have made it into a peer-reviewed journal.
