So over the winter I’ve been building a studio rig which allows me to take panoramic macro images & here’s my 1st effort. 2no vertical rows of 75no images each and stitched together in PS. Lots of room for improvement but I’m happy.

  7. To get most of the ridge sharp I had to get the plane of focus as parallel as possible to it. To light the cactus I used a Joby Gorillatorch and wrapped the legs around my lens.

  8. We were in the middle of securing a mortgage and a red folder from a banking company was lying around – this did the job perfectly! I used an aperture of f/2.8 to isolate the spiky ridge of the cactus from its main body.

  9. The story behind Andrew's picture ‘Cactus Ridge’: ‘This photo of my girlfriend’s cactus was taken in our living room nearly two years ago. I was experimenting with macro, and this was the first time I had really considered using a background to complement the subject.

Solitary bees chose Wisteria alba as their top favourite, selecting from 17 different leaf sources here to assist in building their individual deposited egg cells. Yet, only one found the neighbors rose petals to cap off 2nd in line leaf choice was Enchanters nightshade🌿
