Are they being fired for being Evangelical? Are they being banned from entering the country? Are they policed differently? Are they forbidden from marrying the people they love? Or is society just no longer kowtowing to their every demand? Because that's not discrimination.

Exactly. The only “discrimination” they face is people are no longer putting up with their supremacist behavior.

The study shows that the Trump base has discovered that claiming "discrimination" when other groups respond to their bigotry is a useful whine.

Evangelicals get mad when other people treat them like they treat others.

"... when a student government representative at Berkeley lost club membership and was called on to resign for declining to vote against her Christian views on sexuality and gender." So, she wanted to push her backward views on other people and was denied the opportunity.

-
They called on her to resign is the key, they didn't force her to resign. It's not discrimination if some people strongly disagree. This is really the narrative many white evangelicals push, that it's unjust and hateful to disagree with them.

They can dish discrimination out, but apparently can't take it.

Well, I suppose I have to confess. I discriminate against those creepy, Trump-loving, woman-hating, race-baiting, fear mongers all the time. I don't talk to them, eat with them, play with them, marry them, or live with them. Normal Christians are fine though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
I'm worse. I automatically distrust anyone I find out if a Christian until they earn my trust. I'm actually a bigot :(
-
Is it prejudging a person if they claim ownership of a well-documented belief structure? I mean, if I wear a button that says "I hate pickles" are you prejudging me as a hater of pickles or am I telling you outright with my button?
-
The difference here is that we understand what you hate when you wear a button that says "I hate pickles" but it's much more difficult to understand someone's belief structure about Christianity. While pickles and Christians both have variety, I understand pickles better.
-
On the other hand, slapping the word "evangelical" in front of the word "Christian" makes it easier for me to understand your belief system.
-
When I see the "white evangelical button," I don't think of the Christian creeds or basic religious beliefs. I think they're purposely classifying themselves away from other sects and that differentiation represents particular social, political, and economic beliefs.
-
This is why I discriminate against them.

“It seems that today, Christians must think through their cultural position more carefully than at any other point in US history,” This right here is incredibly telling.
