I buy it. Booster authorization was only expanded to everyone under 65 a week before Thanksgiving after a few states went rogue and still didn't say "should" for under 50. full disclosure - team booster since late August

(I think opposition was complicated - a lot of guilt about vaccine inequities vs data)

How do you make sense of Paul Offit's take on boosters then? I consider him an expert. I am truly trying to make sense, there's too much conflicting advise from what seem to me equally qualified experts. Thank you!https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/11/29/booster-shots-universal-opinion/ …

Aside from Offit’s important immunological speculation about “training” the immune system, he is mainly doing false dichotomy “either-or” risk comm re vax-the-unvax’d vs boosters. Illogical in rich countries. I like to call this: “Is it faster to New York or by bus?” risk comms.

This was 3 days ago maybe? Still pushing people away from boosters even as she stated folks should get them in light of omicron.pic.twitter.com/KkJdEqkjVP

It is amazing how these "experts" weren't persuaded by study after study showing immune response boost, but persuaded by the detection of a new variant of which properties we know almost nothing.

I agree. The growing support for boosters comes from a massive body of evidence on waning effectiveness against **delta**. People with scientific integrity admit, as Carl has, that this evidence forced them to change position. Those with none hide behind trendy excuses.

What about completing schemes in lagging countries first

It's post-hoc justification. They started with a position that wasn't unreasonable. But when evidence against it grew, they doubled down instead of revaluating. Finally, when the evidence made their position untenable, they found something to save face. It's okay, I guess.

Not OK. I was a nurse for 30 years and I no longer trust our CDC. I looked Israel now and was boosted at five months out.
