Blind adherence to style guidelines in case like this results in *equality* without *equity*. I did not mean to attribute motive. But the consequences were unfortunate. I hope that style guidelines can be reconsidered so as to move toward more equitable treatment of guests.

I've never been fond of people who worry about titles.

this time it is not about the title, it is about equity -- many people automatically grant authority to men, particularly older men, in academia at the expense of their female peers

Particularly problematic because they were brought on to to present opposing perspectives. In general I could't care less about honorifics, but in this situation the imbalance has an effect on how the message is going to be perceived by some of the viewership.
