Jeffrey Flier is "concerned with" the "disparaging " tone of this tweet that I posted about Ioannidis—and he seems to equate criticism with silencing. https://www.statnews.com/2020/04/27/hear-scientists-different-views-covid-19-dont-attack-them/ … IMO, if someone is dangerously wrong and should have known better, sardonic criticism is warranted.https://twitter.com/CT_Bergstrom/status/1253822962131599360 …

Yo dawg, we heard you like bounds so we put lower and upper bounds on your lower and upper bounds so you could bound when you bound.... (Also 1% morality or even the upper lower bound of 0.625% mortality is NOTHING LIKE seasonal flu) pic.twitter.com/KaCPh1mo00

This sort of "Now, now, we're all gentlemen here!" tone-policing is bullshit, Jeffrey. If John can publish a hugely successful paper titled "Why Most Published Research Findings Are False", I think he should be able to be on receiving end of a recursion joke internet meme.pic.twitter.com/hDTV5kmFg3

Via @DressageProf, of course there's an xkcd for that. https://xkcd.com/2110/  (From the new activity on my Ioannides thread, it looks like @jflier has got a nice little Streisand Effect going there.)pic.twitter.com/9b7oR9QmFe

Apologies to @VPrasadMDMPH for not calling him out as well on the article above; he is a coauthor. I was responding to @jflier's tweet and didn't want to pull Vinay into the fray unless he wanted to be there.https://twitter.com/VPrasadMDMPH/status/1254973960858398721 …

When I spoke with my 72-year-old father in March, asking him to stop going to church and to avoid crowds in general, he cited Ioannidis to justify not taking the coronavirus seriously. I appreciate your criticism.

I feel SO sorry for that poor, put-upon, full Professor Ioannidis, who, from his tenured perch in the hallowed halls of Palo Alto, and a brand as Iconoclast, and ready platforms in assorted right-leaning publications, is utterly incapable of withstanding a side of sarcasm.

I may be wrong, but I have not seen any credible experts call for rapid reopening right now, in which case the authors are doing exactly what they warn against: making no distinction between vapid political points and actual science.pic.twitter.com/GIs90oEZm6

What about all of the other studies? NYS. Florida. Ohio prison study. Multiple European studies. The Roosevelt crew. All wrong because they don’t fit your preconceived notion that this virus is so terrible?
