. teachers & black & brown families are reluctant to return to in-person classes without a strong safety plan in place bc they see how & CPS leadership has completely failed to provide what they need in the past via

This CPS parent feels extremely validated by this vote. The mayor and CPS have been terrible throughout this whole thing.

No matter which way the vote goes today, people will be harmed, and I will never forgive and for what they’ve put teachers, students & families through on top of everything else we’re all dealing with right now. Didn’t have to be this way.

In 2018 the published a premature Karen obit. She took it in stride, saying "I thought it was hilarious...stuff happens." She then stuck around and blessed us for another 3 years. Here is writer 's real tribute to our sister. 😉

I first heard of Karen Lewis when I was trying to figure out the corporate interests behind Kenya's school system change. She had fire for teachers and for education. May she rest in power. And may we carry on with her fire.

  11. Karen Lewis was a force in the labor movement and a fierce advocate for education justice. We've lost a true champion for teachers and workers everywhere. May she forever rest in power.

Love and solidarity to siblings. Rest in power Karen Lewis. She taught so many so much about their own power. May her memory be a blessing.

I write about the issues at stake in the sharpening debate over opening schools in the midst of the worst crisis in modern American history & why teachers & all workers should have a say in their working conditions. Chicago teachers have provided a model.

Real question for CPS...since teachers are already facing level 3 discipline for communicating with parents/LSC about safety concerns, should they be worried about being on the school based Safety Committee outlined in the framework?
