Mussolini originally gained power by mirroring traditional anarchist "propaganda of the act" tactics. He was an Marxist-lenninist before transitioning. So many of the tactics by antifa and on the ground fascist groups can be similar.

You make a reasonable point that he learned some of his strategies from leftist groups, but you should remember that Antifa is not necessarily anarchists or Marxist/ Leninists, and while there is overlap they are different and their goals are different. It really makes no sense

to call Antifa authoritarian or fascist. To say they sometimes will use some similar tactics is accurate- but also can be misleading. Their similarities are often exaggerated and their differences minimized, ultimately creating a false narrative.

Hey Chrissy, Sry for the belated response. I'm in mental health court which makes me do 15 hours of counseling in the middle of the week and I also had community service for missing a counseling session. Anyways...

I'd agree with most of what you said. Their goals are entirely different and there is a lot of disinformation about them. One point where I'd differ though is the influence of anarchists in these groups. While it's true that social liberals will side with antifa...

...the movement was first generated by ancoms and thus holds disproportionate influence on their operations. That's why they dress in black, it's a cross over from the black bloc who chose that color because the anarchist flag is black and red.

Can't really argue that...while there is no way to get a census it certainly seems that way. I still would argue against calling them fascist, tho.

To be honest Chrissy if I thought that violent opposition was the best way to counter fascists, Id have no problem with it. But like scratching an itchy rash, I fear it will only make it spread faster.

You present a convincing argument, backed by studies. I honestly have no counter for it. Its counter-intuitive, but that doesn't make it wrong.

Thanks Chrissy. Science seems to show most things tend to be counter intuitive, from the earth being round to matter being mostly empty space. Violent resistance is not only to be intuitive but cathartic as well, which makes this such a steep hill to climb.

The good news is the Chenoweth study showed that you only need a small fraction of the population to be engaged in civil resistance to be extremely effective, so it isn't necessary to convince everyone.
