Why not take a moment to sit down and read all about our 2019 accomplishments? Rachel has just finished the annual report, it can be found here: It's a great read, with lots of pictures and information on the whole teams' activities.

It's not all about work! Yesterday, CSL’s management team with the Park Warden enjoyed a Sunday boat picnic and checked out rising water levels.

The 'rains' is a time of plenty. Plenty of lush vegetation and oxbow lagoons full of water. It's always a privilege watching relaxed elephants. Photo credit: @Edward_selfe_photo_safaris

Can you see that? Oh yes it's the weekend! We hope you're fortunate enough to enjoy some time in nature this weekend. What wildlife might you see in your backyard? Photo credit: @Edward_selfe_photo_safaris

Thanks for the new HWC motorbike. With a team of 6 field-based staff working in 3 chiefdoms & 30 chilli patrollers who protect fields from crop-raiding elephants. This motorbike will enable Billy to make it to places that a 4x4 vehicle can't reach.

Benson used his grant to buy extras such as epaulettes, name badges and physical training kit for the scouts. These items often get missed due to funding restraints, but help boost morale with the scouts and encourage a sense of pride at work.

Last week in Mfuwe, we experienced unusually high water levels for the time of year. As quickly as the river rose and burst it's banks filling lagoons, it has drained away. These 2 pictures show the same place, 4 days apart.

Inspirational stuff in Travel & Leisure: “Winning the award is a huge motivation. I am now committed to work harder, delegate more and educate as many people as I can. I need to double my efforts to groom the next generation of wildlife rangers to protect Mother Nature.” -BK

Just because it's the rainy season, doesn't mean you won't get spectacular wildlife sightings here. Wild dogs killed an impala near Mfuwe Lodge today. Hyena's kept trying their luck to get a piece of the kill, but they were nipped in the bum and chased off by the dogs. – mjesto: South Luangwa National Park

Boat launch 2020. It’s only 2nd January and already the river and lagoons are full to the brim. – mjesto: South Luangwa National Park

Only 8ml of rain last night, but the river is still full and flowing fast. The volume of water is just incredible. Today, the ops team got our boat into the water. The lagoon near Croc Valley was so full, it was possible to reverse the boat trailer in off the Croc valley road. – mjesto: South Luangwa National Park

We had another 66ml of rain last night in Mfuwe. Today the Luangwa River is full to the brim, this is due to heavy rainfall upstream. The network of lagoons are quickly filling too. This clip was filmed from the main bridge just after 10:00 this morning. – mjesto: South Luangwa National Park

Hello 2020! As we start a new year and a new decade, let us each value the natural world around us. "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can" - Arthur Ashe. Photo by @Edward_selfe_photo_safaris

We met some ‘heavy’ traffic on the way back from a meeting this morning. It’s still raining heavily in Mfuwe (40ml overnight). The Luangwa river came up a lot overnight. – mjesto: South Luangwa National Park

Heavy rains in Mfuwe recently, we recorded 32mls last night and it’s continuing today. Hopefully we can put the boat into the river soon as it makes it deploying patrols much easier. – mjesto: South Luangwa National Park

The HWC team receive all sorts of calls. Last week this mature Puff Adder was causing farmers concern, so we put them in touch with a local snake expert. With DNPW permission, he safely collected it and then released it in the park. Photo by Ken Waterhouse

Update & pic from Graeme Ellis. The elephant desnared on 06-Dec was seen earlier this week and while the leg (front left) is still swollen & can take months go down, it appears to be healing well. As expected reports of snaring have finally reduced, due to animals dispersing.
