So, I’m being tested for #COVID19. I was turned away on Friday, but now my asthma has dramatically worsened. I don’t meet the typical testing criteria here (extremely severe symptoms or close contact with a positive case), but I qualified because of my history of severe asthma.

For severe asthma I am typically prescribed prednisone, but if this is
#COVID19 I can’t take it because it suppresses the immune system. I am really really hoping this is just a particularly nasty upper respiratory infection with awful timing, but we won’t know for several days.1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 6 tykkäystäNäytä tämä ketju -
I won’t lie, this is scary for me. I’ve been rushed to the ER twice for bad upper respiratory infections before, and although I’m now on better medication and everything has been much better, I don’t know what’s happening to me right now. This rapid breathing decline is new.

I’m going to stay positive that I will get through this whatever this is, I will defend my PhD in the coming months, and I will move to Denmark to start my new postdoctoral position. I’m so lucky to have so many people that are helping me through this. Support is essential.

Thank you so much for everyone who has been supporting me. This is a difficult time for us all. Please remember that community support is more important than ever right now. Practice social distancing and reach out to those you care about
