Games that used painted or prerendered visuals converted to 240p wind up looking like pixelated jpegs when upscaled to modern screens. CRTs handle lower resolutions much better.

this is one instance where i'm a little torn, and i appreciate that the emulated example is in the correct aspect ratio (these comparisons feel unfair to me when it isn't), but i have to give it to the crt here. there's just so much more depth to the image.

I keep the screenshots in the original aspect ratio to demonstrate the way that CRTs stretch the image. Many folks play in 1:1 pixel perfect and there are still debates about whether SNES games in particular were meant for 4:3 or 8:7. Best to make the raw images truly raw imo.

Really sick of people constantly saying this, especially to my submissions. Expect to be muted if you do. Photographing a CRT vastly changes the colors and unless you're using an actual colorimeter ($150+), it's all up to your personal eye anyway. Perfection doesn't exist.

Retroarch with Bettle PSX Core Shader: ntsc-320px-svideo-gauss-scanlines (slang) There is still work to do, but i think it's better than nothing. BTW Nice work.
