Happy #CommonwealthDay to 2.4 billion people dealing with the legacy of Britain's empire! Many #Commonwealth States retain laws imposed by the UK allowing life imprisonment of children, child marriage, penalties for blasphemy & legal exemptions for men who rape their wives.pic.twitter.com/nzqyn1zrS5

Not the British Empire's fault that the former states are still using the laws, or is that racist? Rule Britannia!

If we still had the empire these laws would have been repealed! We moved forward after independence, they didn't. So how is this a fault of the empire?

Exactly, this is in no way fault of “Empire”, it is the fault of the independent countries. Try focusing on the laws and change that Empire did bring about!

I wondered how far I would have to scroll down twitter to find the first textbook semi-sarcastic negative tweet. Congratulations you win. 👎

Sad thing is that isn’t sarcasm, if you can’t see outside little Britain that’s your problem.
