Don't know how to break it to you. But when greater than 50% of the population is feeding out of the gov trough, they will not vote for their benefits to be cut. I think we are at that point or very close.

When COS takes place you need to solidify border protection & prohibt the removal of the wall except for repairs & even then security while being repaired. We need to establish security of US takes priority over everything else.

Then there's the issues of 17A. Prior to this, as state governors changed, there was a natural changing of senators. Also, senators were responsible to state legislatures so they wouldn't vote to do something against state needs or they wouldn't survive re-appointment. (More)

No matter what, there is nothing better than vigulance by the electorate. Think of how much damage a Representative could do in 6 terms where an alert constituency would turn the Rep out after 1.
