As we prepare for our advocacy day, we mourn those we’ve lost to NY’s new death penalty—death-by-incarceration. Long sentences & few opportunities for parole kill people in prison & others soon after their release. Tomorrow we march w/ those we lost in our hearts.

Hay and Kang received pardons today, which may prevent their deportations!!! So much love and respect to the mothers, aunties, family members, all-star immigration attorneys, formerly incarcerated leaders, + comm. organizers who poured their heart and soul into this fight 👏🙌🙏

We're giving $80 billion to prisons a year and no one is asking them to evaluate their results. Some folks give $10,000 to groups and want an academic study to evaluate *outcomes* and that's BOGUS AF. It costs 10 times that much just to evaluate shit in the first place.

PASS AB 392, STOP SB 230! Our bill (AB392) will save lives & hold police accountable for killing unarmed people of color. The Cops Bill (SB 230) will keep the status quo and allows officers to continue to justify use of force.

So grateful for the opportunity to give back. Freedom was only possible for me because of community. Those detained and their families need support and giving even a few dollars goes a long way.

When Ny Nourn was detained, community raised money for her bond. ICE finally got around to returning the bond to Ny. Immediately, Ny asked that the money be used to support Cambodian families impacted by the raids and a fund was set up. Please donate -

I fight for pardons because it is my way to help keep my Cambodian refugee community members home with our families. We are children of genocide survivors and are trying to prevent more trauma on our parents, elders, and our children

Rikers Island has an alarmingly high rate of sexual violence. Incarcerated people report being sexually assaulted at a rate between 2 & 3 times the average for men & women in prisons & jails across the country. NYC has done little to stop the abuse.
