Appreciate anyone actually trying to have a dialogue. So yea, happy to expand. 1) I don't think looking at statehood as a panacea for Puerto Rico's fiscal troubles is a good thing: that's happened a lot, especially after the 2017 resolution.

2) I fear the vast number of PR's who have a "near religious devotion to big government policies, high taxes, public sector unions and expansive regulation".

3) I don't believe a fundamental change on the Island is possible if statehood is granted and federal dollars (my dollars) start pouring in at an accelerated rate.

4) I think independence is the best answer for Puerto Ricans and for American tax payers.

The US tax payers have sent so much money to PR and they choose to spend it on all their entitled programs along with building free homes to all even the people that were homeless long before that hurricane ever hit. If they mismanaged the relief funds it’s on them not us.
