Out of all of the problems patients face in healthcare systems - interoperability only affects a tiny % each year. Usually those in a FFS market with multiple doctors or after a trauma or a transfer + People assume Docs read and want ALLL of the other Doc notes. They don't

Not sure they will have any impact. Which of these has a market leading EHR platform? The rest is irrelevant.

As a health care provider (recently retired) if this change happens it will be a BIG win for the patient - Why? I spent hours trying to get records from outside hospitals. People wind up in an ER and unable to give complete histories. This impacts their care

FHIR is promising, but electronic medical records like Epic & Cerner do trade across hospitals with ease using the HL7 & the CDA & have for years. HIPAA & privacy have been the biggest issues, not technology. Go work with a large hospital system interface engineer for week.

Do people not see the slippery road here? This could be like the 23/me issue..NO ONE HAS PRIVACY anymore...and personal health info gets used against you? Plus, I'm not a fan of Bill Gates..Microsoft...he put a "plant" in NIH years ago and she did NOTHING promised to Lyme Victims

As a cancer survivor, I am very passionate about patients having their own records in a secure location fully under their control. The issue is not technology. It is business policy that places barriers. #Patients should have easy free access to all their records.

Isn't the absence of Apple from this gathering noteworthy?  Aren't they the "tech giant" actually deploying scalable solutions for patients to access and control their EHR and other health data?

Alphabet and Microsoft have tried and failed at this in the past! It’s not about the technology! It’s about the policy. Getting stakeholders to agree is harder than you think. I have the scars to prove it!
