  5. Yesterday, I had the chance to walk with through Seattle with some of our newly-trained Community Service Officers. I was impressed to learn their histories of helping people in crisis. They will be vital assets to our communities Downtown and throughout Seattle!

  8. This police presence is why officers were able to respond to last week’s shooting quickly, saving lives. But this data also shows that police presence alone will not solve the issues on the Pike/Pine corridor, and must be coupled with Community Service Officers.

  9. Today I proposed a brick-and-motor storefront staffed by Community Service Officers to complement our regular SPD officers and serve as a resource for businesses, residents, and service providers downtown.

    Anticipating snow and extreme temperatures, the City will open a severe weather shelter for adults (all genders) starting Sun night, Jan 12 through Sun, Jan 19 at Seattle Center Exhibition Hall – 301 Mercer Street. The shelter will be open 8pm-7am. 👉🏾

  21. We know that a housing first strategy is the only intervention against prolonged homelessness that works. Today, I declared my top priority to be a sustained effort toward permanent supportive housing.
