This seems to unnecessarily criminalize a victim. Marijuana? Come on.

Welp, Mississippi State and Ole Miss both won today, and Jackson State didn’t lose. So I think we can count Week 2 as a success...unless you’re a Golden Eagle.

We now know 16 inmates died in MDOC facilities in August. Richard Beasley, 55, died Aug. 31 at a Greenville hospital. He had been housed at Parchman. MDOC posted this after 1 pm today in a section devoted to inmate deaths. Manner/cause of death pending autopsy.

. said there would be “complete transparency” in this investigation. MDOC Commissioner Pelicia Hall repeatedly mentioned last week. Releasing past inmate death data & granting interviews w/Hall (both of which haven’t happened) would help provide that.

To further compare how much August sticks out this year, here's how many deaths we've had each month since 2018 began: January: 2 February: 0 March: 2 April: 2 May: 3 June: 0 July 2: August: 12 Translation: August's number of inmate deaths seems to be out of line. (3/3)

FACTCHECK: Commissioner Pelicia Hall says the # of inmate deaths reported (12 in August) is not out of line w/number of deaths in previous months, but their own data shows that's simply not true. Before August, the highest # of monthly deaths (since 2015) was 4. (1/3)

I’ve heard this from other cities/school districts, too. Elected officials don’t realize that, while employees under them may have to do what they say, reporters don’t have to. We can talk to whomever we want, especially if our tax dollars pay their salaries.

Hey , did you guys ever follow up with your Southaven, MS, hotel to see if they ever addressed the mold issues I found in their hotel? If this happened in someone’s apartment, Mississippi law would let a tenant break their lease. It’s a public health issue.

Good question. Unfortunately, it’s the nature of the job. He was a truck driver for Riverside, offloading limestone from a barge. No doubt it’s dangerous work. And he got paid $12/hr, per his father.
