Yes. Some people seem to think that everyone expressing an opinion must behave as if they were running for office - eg they shouldn't insult voters & should triangulate. This is wrong.

Someone asked me yesterday: is having children (in the UK) bad for the planet? In 2017, having one fewer child was reported as being the best thing you could do for the climate; ahead of avoiding driving, flying and non-plant-based food.

Private schools don't want poor kids going to Oxford for the same reason butchers don't want people to be vegetarians. I cant' believe anybody is stupid enough to think their arguments have any merit:

THREAD (dedicated to my ex-colleagues at NBH).... What's wrong with Fran Unsworth's vision for BBC News: 1) Any editorial graphic where "original journalism" is in the bottom corner is a recipe for News becoming an announcement board for business, the monarchy and the state...

This reminds us that you cannot understand politics without Ben Friedman: " Many countries...have experienced alternating eras of economic growth and stagnation in which their democratic values have strengthened or weakened accordingly."

One of the very few childhood memories I have is of listening with my nan to Just A Minute during school lunch breaks. It's amazing that a man could have presented a show for all the time from my primary schooldays to near my retirement.

One of the many problems with this policy (other than racism, illiberalism & a form of gaslighting) is that wages are a poor measure of contribution to society:

The great Andrew Glyn always used to ask: "what's the mechanism?" This is crucial for many policy debates now. Eg how exactly would HS2 enrich the north? How exactly would your favoured Lab leadership candidate boost the party? How exactly does agglomeration work? etc
