Attention: media! Some of our investigations are sent out under embargo. Our mailing list is somewhat obsolete since 2015, so if you'd like to get our investigations (like the recent one on Russia's Voronezh camp) in advance, send a subscrition request to info@citeam.org

5/5 By our assessment, the forces remaining at Ukraine's border still present a danger of deployment into occupied Eastern Ukraine, while a large-scale invasion of government-controlled territory would certainly require moving more troops to the border. We will keep monitoring.

4/5 This, of course, leaves open the question if the troops will actually pull out and if yes, how many. The same question was relevant back in 2014.

3/ With the vehicles already in place, transferring just the personnel back to Voronezh would take days, not weeks. It also should be noted that the order states the pullout will complete as early as May 1, while the initial deployment took nearly a month.

2/ First, the order states that the equipment of the 41st army (which includes tanks and heavy MLRS), transferred from Siberia, is to remain in a camp south of Voronezh until Zapad-2021 strategic military exercises which aren't due till September.

1/ Today 's Sergei Shoigu gave an order to pull troops amassed around Ukraine back to their bases. Here's why it is too early to stop worrying (yet)

4/4 This ever-expanding geography of Russian troops redeployment to Crimea and the Russian-Ukrainian border is certainly cause for more concern. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.

3/ Kasta radars are known to be used by radiotechnical regiments attached to anti-air divisions and air bases. The only unit like this in the area is the 342nd Radiotechnical Regiment. This is the first unit of Eastern Military District we've seen going to Crimea.

2/ The train was going to Aivazovskaya station in Crimea which we earlier noted as an unloading site for trains carrying elements of the 58th army from North Caucasus, which presumably ended up at a training ground in eastern Crimea.

1/ In yet another TikTok video of a military train, researchers spotted a Kasta-2-2 radar station. We checked the carriage ID in a railcar tracker and found out the train was going to Crimea from Chita in the Russian Far East.

New satellite imagery shows Su-30 fighter jets and paratroopers (likely 76th Air Assault division) arriving in Crimea. US officials told WSJ there are 80,000 Russian troops around Ukraine. Ukrainian military intelligence earlier put the figure at 110,000

6/ The Crimea camp(s), together with the one just south of Voronezh, appear to be the main staging areas of the Russian forces recently transferred towards the Ukrainian border. We will monitor the situation closely in case there are signs of more camps like these.

5/ The satellite images also don't appear to show heavy vehicles such as tanks or self-propelled howitzers, also seen transferred to Crimea. This suggests the 58th Army might have more camps in the peninsula.

4/ Recently, the transfer of the 58th Army to Crimea was confirmed by the military. However, there still has been no comment on the presence of the 76th Air Assault Division, seen quite close to Ukraine-controlled territory

3/ Note that the unloading areas for military vehicle trains all point to east Crimea, same as videos filmed on the eastern part of the E97 ("Tavrida") highway. This suggests that the 58th army units were indeed going into the recently discovered camp.

2/ As we and other researchers have noted, units from the 58th Army (known for the 2008 Russia-Georgia war) have been arriving to Crimea, including the 291st Artillery and the 136th Motorized brigades.

1/ has obtained satellite images of aRussian military camp at a training ground in east Crimea, some 280 km by road from Ukraine-controlled territory. We believe it shows elements of the 58th Army, recently transferred from North Caucasus.

Eagle-eyed OSINT analysts/military hardware geeks, any idea what's hiding under those tarps on a train at Maslovka station, Voronezh? Railcar tracking says the consignee is the 9th Guards Command Brigade (9-я гвардейская бригада управления).

8/9 Finally, it may be that some elements of the 76th are unloaded in Simferopol and not proceeding north - another video, allegedly filmed near Simferopol, showed a "Infauna" EW system (also seen on the train) unloaded and driving under its own power.

7/ Some markings, however, were left unpainted, revealing an upside-down white triangle marking. Per researcher , this marking is used by two regiments of the 76th, of which only the 234th Air Assault regiment is based in Pskov itself.
