When #WWII broke out Fleming found his true calling & a love for espionage in Britain’s Naval Intelligence Division. He became part of a team working with “Wild” Bill Donovan to help write the blueprint for the new Coordinator of Information, which became #OSS.

After #WWII, Fleming decided to move to Jamaica & drawing on his family’s income, he built a home for himself. He called it “Goldeneye.”
Fleming told friends he had always wanted to write a spy novel & now with time on his hands, he did exactly that.

Using his #WWII experiences, Fleming completed his 1st book “Casino Royale.”
He wanted a boring & nondescript name for his main character. Looking around his library, he came to a reference book entitled “Birds of the West Indies” by ornithologist James Bond.

In 1962, “Dr. No” was the first Bond movie. Since then, the James Bond franchise has become the longest continually running series in film history. There has been more than 25 films made associated with the character. They’ve grossed over $7 billion in revenue.

Ian Fleming died in 1964, a month before the 3rd Bond film "Goldfinger" was released. While he was able to witness the initial success of his creation, he probably never dreamed his character would still be going strong over 50 years later.

Je voudrait être espion.
I love James Bond movies. But that's fiction, that's not what you guys do. What you guys do is very important, but if you make mistakes, abuse your power, target Americans for political purposes, you deserve to be called out for it. You're not James Bond.
God Bless Rest in peace
Oops....and like me, he was a Gemini.
Like me, he probably hated routine.
