  3. A5) Helps me help students who are getting used to self-directed learning (our program is completely asynchronous w/ rolling enrollment). Check in with those who aren't turning in work regularly.

  4. A4) Every communication from me includes encouragement to contact me w/ any questions, concerns, or feedback. Do wish gradebook comments could include active hyperlinks & that matting in speedgrader comments (line spacing, for example) would maintain in student view.

  5. A3) I feel like leaving video feedback using the Media Recorder or Screencastify, Kaltura Capture, etc. is a big help to building and maintaining relationship with students in fully online environments.

  6. A2) Students share link to portion of their work on GDocs for each assignment on an embedded Padlet. Ss give each other feedback using commenting feature. I leave comments on their assignments as well using GDocs comments or Speedgrader annotation tools.

  7. A1) I send each student a welcome Inbox msg when they enroll (we have rolling enrollment). Video of me talking about myself and ask them to share some of their favorite activities and topics in history.

  10. I was commenting on early poll results from Iowa and my daughter asked what I was talking about. I said the Iowa caucuses. She asked if they were a sports team. Cue mini-lesson on caucuses. LOL

    Hey teachers! In case you needed to hear it today - The feedback you give students really can make a huge difference, especially to the students that might be struggling. Remember, keep it positive and actionable!

  13. Being 15 years old, he gave me a bit of side-eye but agreed. He loved it and we had such a great ride home listening, talking, and enjoying the stories. I wish I could listen to it with my friend as well but I'm sure he listened and knows even more stories from the source. /End

  14. Prince is one of his absolute favorites. I don't even know how many times he's watched the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance where Prince destroyed the guitar solo in While My Guitar Gently Weeps. When he got in the car, I said, "You HAVE to listen to this!" 4/

  15. talking music with Prince, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and others. I wish I could have more time with him but your interview with Ms. St. Nicholas was something I know he would have loved. As for my son, he's also very into music. He started guitar lessons when he was 7. 3/

  16. When we were in college, he bought bootleg Prince CDs as often as he could afford to. He was the first person I thought of when Prince died. My friend passed away very unexpectedly in February of 2017. He LOVED music and what gave me comfort was thinking of him 2/
