As a person who has had both male and female students, the mentorship thing is also a cultural thing and cannot be separated from that. Fun to see a right wing rag clutching at its pearls of a scientific journal, who da think it.

It's strange. It's like we fought 200 years for there to be a scientific fiat against identitarianism. And in the course of a few months, the scientific fiat had flipped back toward identitarianism.

I would just add that it’s effectively a social science paper about mentoring scientists. I shall (naively?) hope that politics won’t determine which hard science research findings are acceptable.

Yep. It's a Nature branded journal that's intentionally provocative and seeks headlines. Not necessarily bad, but definitely not a reflection of whatever field it publishes (many).
