OK. Show me a better way. @slate, @washingtonpost @voxdotcom and @nytimes are now incentivized to publish loony radfem screeds. Such screeds are toxic. They drive fanaticism on far left and far right. But they get lots of clicks. Isn’t http://archive.is worth the risk?
So true, the New York Times had to monetize lunacy since they were so terrible at monetizing journalism.
In fact, the @nytimes is capable of great journalism. That’s why we need to discourage loony radfem clickbait viahttp://archive.is
Imagine the internet if clickbait didn't exist.
Totally if you can make people not lazy -- there is the real challenge.
What do you mean by lazy? There is ways to aumomate the archive process. You think people would use it?
I know it's ridiculous but the extra steps of going to an archive site when the link is directly in front of someone is too much effort for some. Lazy may be the wrong word. Perhaps impulse or a feeling of insignificance vs the effort required.
So, let's say a Browser plugin that adds an "archive share" button, that issues the archive request and puts resulting link in the user's clipboard would do the trick?
I'd say a large portion of twitter users are on the phone. Even then someone people are not plug-in savvy. I hate to be a naysayer, it's certainly a step in the right direction.
Was afraid of that. Most use their mobile, yeah. And don't worry! That's why I'm asking beforehand. Thanks for the input! Much appreciated.
Well except it's nonsense. That seriously impacts its validity. First, it privileges violence against women when men are more likely to suffer violence. Second, men as a whole are not responsible for the actions of a tiny-tiny minority of other men. So yeah, lol is about right.
So now the author is basically saying: well gender roles are just fine ... as long as they fit the narrative. His internalized misandry is not productive and it certainly shouldn't be celebrated. Imagine if this sort of nonsense were published but with the genders reversed....
First, I would still reject the notion that women are responsible for the actions of other women.
But more to the point, let me know when we start seeing these sorts of articles appearing in the @nytimes at parity to those blaming men as a whole for the actions of a few.
