Road and logging contractors are doing incredible work in difficult and hazardous conditions to make safe fire impacted roads such as the Princes Hwy between Cann River and Mallacoota. 👉🏽

Last week I had the opportunity to travel to Mallacoota & meet up with some of our members incl Cpt Rod from Mallacoota FB. Their story of working together with communities during the challenging fire conditions was filled with courage & resilience. 👉🏽

Great to see Mallacoota Fire Brigade members walking alongside their Tanker leading the emergency services contingent at the parade in the Melbourne CBD yesterday. 🇭🇲 An incredibly proud moment for brigade members and CFA. 👍🏽

This number is important. It’s not for emergencies, it’s for support. And I am seeking your support to help us let people know about it. This number will connect people with counselling, grants, services, contacts and information. Please share

Very privileged to witness this traditional ceremony before our Fijian soldiers head out to the fireground around Orbost. Thank you for supporting Victoria and our communities. Take care

Today we said goodbye to one of our own. Bill Slade was remembered as a 'loving husband, doting father' & a 'ripper bloke'. A guard of honour formed by colleagues was a moving tribute to a wonderful man. After 40 years of dedication to the state, Bill will be missed.

Our local Brigades in District 11 have been living with the bushfires for over 2 months. The resilience and stamina of our CFA members has been tested. As always we continue to put the community at the centre of everything we do. 🚒 More ⬇️ 📸 Metung FB

Well done CFA Metung Fire Brigade. You deserve the high recognition and appreciation of the community for the great work you do everyday and more recently during the East Gippsland bushfires. 👏🏽

Terrific article in this month's Women's Weekly featuring our very own Volunteer Firefighters Charmaine Sellings & Rhonda Thorpe at Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust - a must read about our indigenous CFA members at the Trust. Keep up the good work!

Strike Teams continuing to rotate making good progress on consolidating firelines after very little rainfall yesterday. I had the brief opportunity to catch up with some of our F/F as part of a D14 & US Strike Team before they departed Swifts Creek ICC yesterday. Stay safe. 👍🏽

I had the opportunity to inspect the damage to the Buchan Caves Reserve yesterday & listen to those who worked hard during the f/fighting effort to save so much under difficult & dangerous conditions. Outstanding work by community, CFA & F/F.

It takes time to re-open roads after a bushfire, particularly when considering the time of year, the amount of impacted roads and the remoteness of some communities in East Gippsland. Well done all involved in this important task.👏🏽

Weather looking good for some rainfall over the next few days across most firegrounds in Vic and NSW. Days of nice soaking rain would be welcomed, however heavy downpours may create other risks and consequences to many fire areas. ☔

Special thanks to Omeo Fire Brigade Captain Graham Symons when I called in for a quiet visit (bush telegraph working well as he knew before I arrived!). Graham kindly offered to show me the bushfire impact on the nearby community of Cobungra. 👍🏽

On this day (13 January) 1939 was another defining moment in our bushfire history; Black Friday 1939. Experiences from the past provide valuable learning so we can improve how we prevent, prepare, respond & recover from bushfires in Australia.🔥

There are a number of different ways you can donate to support our firefighting effort in Victoria. CFA is promoting four options depending on how you would like your money to be used.

Strategically located FF water tanks in East Gipps have been relied upon heavily during the bushfires. The 30 tanks have been incredibly valuable since installation last year. 16 tanks jointly funded by CFA & w/another 14 installed by Council using Fed Govt drought funding.
