So psychiatrists should retrain as therapists then and neurologists can deal with any medical issues relating to the brain. So there is no room for psychiatry. This is why, as a profession, they have been trying to invent new diagnoses in order to prove they have a purpose.

1/2 If this paradigm of illness (the person “has”, rather than “is”) were adopted, we’d need new type of psychiatrist. Seems like most psychiatrists these days are not interested in engaging pts but just want to deal out concoctions of pills.

It's a view which will not gain support among psychiatrists because they're obviously the least qualified to (non-medically) "guide" people they have nothing in common with (poor, marginalised) to........ what they imagine this person should move towards.

It's like a doctor advocating that doctors should do non-medicalised carpentry. Instead of letting carpenters do it.
