    The project is also promoting water use efficiency and conservation to enable farmers to cope with -related changes and allow environmental flows (e-flows) in the rivers to reduce increasing water stress and related risks to economic growth, people and nature.

    GOALAN is responding to the challenges by reducing degradation in key water source areas/catchments through production by smallholder farmers, reducing erosion and sediment loads from farms, leaching residual fertilizer and pesticides.
