Do I need to have finished 1 or 2? I found the combat in the first game to be too clunky.

Not really. Some links to characters from the previous ones, but the backstory can be picked up pretty easily. I played about half the first one, skipped 2 entirely and I was happy with it.

I haven't played any Witcher game before 3 and I was sad I didn't in the end...although I heard that the first two weren't nearly as good as 3

That's why I would pay $70,00 bucks in any product of you guys. Bring me a awesome RPG, with a great story and I will pay whatever you guys ask for it. Fair gaming it's simple, if it's good worth any price.

I agree, hell, I'd even pay 100 bucks if that is needed to make awesome.. Just be honest about it.. I trust CD project with this though.
