Unfortunately, people will absolutely try auditioning with "Hey! I don't mind these rates, I just wanna do it for fun!" without realising how much it undercuts the industry itself.

As someone who has worked on such games, voicing 30+ characters with 2-3 spoken lines + attack/pain/death sounds in an hour, that offer passes insulting and circles back to comic gold. lolol If inexperienced VAs go for it, careful on the action sounds. Diaphragm, not throat!

I've heard somewhere that crunchyroll also underpays their translators. Doesn't surprise me at all

Mentioned in this tweet: https://twitter.com/animaltextures/status/1214672672157814786 … Also gonna say if they can afford something like that, surely they can pay fair rates to their translators and voice actors (assuming they haven't stiffed anyone else).

If they wanna offer that rate, they can offer it with a contract residual that gives 0.5% of the year's profits in addition to that peanut money for every year the game uses their voice. Because I can almost guarantee that yield will still be higher than the offered pay.
