Sorry... .@dpcireland a Junior Minister has just informed the Oireachtas that there are systemic breaches of #dataprotection law where data sharing is being carried out without a lawful basis. I’ll file my “concern” (aka complaint) shortly.

This is ridiculous. The “shure we’ll do a bit of an ould law there now to put all that right” has moved from shonky SI’s to primary legislation without proper scrutiny. The Commission was forthright in pre-legislative scrutiny that this bill was bad, will we see action?

Fairly sure some public bodies will find themselves on the wrong end of data protection actions in the Circuit Court before long, even if that proves cumbersome for data subjects.

Daragh, I would like to complain about the fact that government departments are breaking the law as acknowledged by the junior minister. Would you send me an appropriate text please. I want to make them stop breaking the law, not fix their actions retrospectively.
