    Weakening high pressure and a stronger sea breeze will give way to some decent cooling across the coast today. A little less cooling inland but it won't be nearly as oppressive as yesterday! Just one more day of heat before we get a break! We got this!

    Here we go, this is where it gets real. The heat really starts to ramp up today where there will be widespread triple digit heat away from the beaches. PLEASE take caution and stay inside with AC if you can! This heat can be DEADLY!

    In addition to flash flooding threat, there will be potential for gusty erratic winds, small hail, and dangerous cloud to ground lightning, including potential for isolated dry lightning strikes on periphery of storms that can cause new fire ignitions.

    VCFD is sending two full strike teams (Immediate Need) to assist at the by Lake Hughes. We are sending both Type 1 and Type 3 engine strike teams. Current conditions: fire at approx 6,000 acres, 0% containment, 94F, RH 13% W @ 9mh, gust 14. Homes threatened.

    Update: Firefighters have the active fire knocked down with smoldering spots left. Hoselines around the fire and crews working to build handline. All aircraft has been released. Crews will be out mopping up hotspots for the next few hours.
