...yet the Legislature continues to underfund K-12 education by ~$200M/yr less than mandated, and hasn't made up for a decade of doing so. The #RedForEd movement was also about restoring that funding and ensuring appropriate pay for ALL involved in education, not just teacher pay

Why wasn't DeVoss supporting the teachers??
-
Because she is in favor of competition (Charter Schools) and keeping Government out of education.
-
She has no expertise to discuss public education! She bought this position!
-
No expertise needed. Get government out of education. Allow a free and competitive market to produce the best education at the lowest cost.
-
but we all know it ends up benefitting wealthy and privileged children and putting children born into poverty a deep disadvantage, making education extremely unfair
-
Yes in life people in poverty have a disadvantage in life that’s kind of how life works.
-
That’s where communities and charity’s come into play to help out those in need, not the government.
-
Like I should've checked out at "No expertise needed", but I didn't, and I really do feel stupider for it.

The devil is in the details. Look carefully and you will see only 9% (per-pupil) funding going directly to public school districts who dispurse funding as they choose. Public school teachers unlikely to recoup 9% in 2019. $700K shortfall.

Considering Arizona ranks almost dead last in education... So is this the tax burden equivalent of a participation trophy? I feel terrible for the children.
-
They are the least funded state in the country and the 43rd in education. Learn what you're talking about.

I see the GOP politicians gave a raise but bulked at increasing spending on students supplies, etc. teachers asked for. So I give the GOP no credit for a half hearted fix. Remember how this went down.
-
1/2 ass GOP attempt to appease the teachers. But the kids still need supplies!

It was a 6 day walk out. Believe me, this AZ mom knows. Last Thursday (Day 1) to this Thursday (Day 6). It has not been easy, either but totally support the teachers. Staff still got short end of the stick.

That's wonderful news for the teachers but, the kids are still coming in last! Money is not the answer to everything. More attention should have been paid to the teacher's demands. smh

Did that white supremacists loving Gov. Of Arizona ever bother to meet with the teachers? Or was he too busy posing with his Neo Nazi pals?
-
He did not meet with the teachers. He also will not meet with the March For Our Lives kids.
