Some genealogists are raising alarms about police searching a public DNA database to track down the alleged “Golden State Killer.” Investigators used http://GEDMatch.com  to name Joseph DeAngelo as the suspect in at least 12 murders and 50 rapes https://cbsn.ws/2JDahxb pic.twitter.com/fTECywXN9X

Don't use a smart phone or any apps on it. Don't go on any social media. Don't use those store discount cards. All of these know what you eat. Who your friends are. Where you've live/been. What you like & don't.

The man that ended and scarred so many lives is now off the street. The surviving victims can finally feel some relief. I say Bravo to law enforcement and to heck with your privacy "alarms".

My DNA is on many sites. If it turns out my relative is a sadistic murderer and rapist I would be happy to know that justice can prevail due to my contribution. What are genealogists so worried about? Are they harboring murderers? Get over it!

Then maybe those genealogists can have him stay at their homes and make it all alright bc his privacy was assaulted. I’m sure he’d welcome the private accommodations to assert his... “activities” and “public” DNA is fair game. Done no crime, no need to worry abt prison time.

Why would this be a problem? If you don't commit a crime there won't be a problem. If you do commit a crime, you should do the time.
