Folks, if we allow the right to destroy public education this will be the standard. The truth will cease to exist.

I doubt they meant it as being only from the perspective of the slaves. It must have had perceived benefits for the owners, or nobody would have started it. All sins and crimes bring benefits to someone, analyzing that doesn't diminish the sin or crime.

Here's a photo of the assignment. It's entitled "the life of a slave" - you're to list benefits of THEIR life not those of the white supremacist slave owners. So that should clear up any doubts you might have.pic.twitter.com/8MIUkIflet

Seems my instincts were correct- Perhaps this is just one small example of Betsy Devos' charter schools. Unreal.

For Gods sake. She was basically asking for the students to examine the perspectives of the people of the time (slaves/slave owners). What motivations/incentives did owners have to perpetuate the barbaric practice and the impact it had on the slaves. AKA history

That’s not what the worksheet asked.

Yeah, it kind of was. She gave them a compare and contrast worksheet on an 8th grade level. Pros from the owners’ perspectives and cons from the slaves perspectives. She wasn’t asking for a Harvard review on slavery or for students to support it

Um. From looking at the worksheet, that’s not what she was asking. We can agree to disagree. Enjoy your evening.

Indeed, we can. The difference is I am not going to add some malicious intent that is not there due to my own biases or political beliefs. Have a good one.

I think the students answer pictured illustrates the teachers point of the assignment. This man wasn’t seeing something that wasn’t there.
